Motion

Demo is a groundbreaking motion festival curated by Studio Dumbar, held across the Netherlands. For 24 hours, over 5,000 digital screens—typically reserved for ads—are taken over by experimental, non-commercial motion design, transforming public space into a living gallery. The festival offers a collective visual breath: a moment of pause, reflection, and creative surprise in the everyday urban landscape.

My work ‘Numbers’ was selected to be part of this edition, alongside pieces from a global lineup of renowned designers and studios.

The piece is built around a simple countdown. Each number emerges from a grid of precisely placed dots, disrupting the uniformity with a moment of controlled chaos. The countdown introduces tension as order breaks and then reforms, creating a rhythm that feels both mechanical and human.

Shown on public screens typically used for advertising or information, the countdown breaks expectations. It’s no longer about time or value. It’s about presence, pattern, and the fragile balance between structure and disruption.
