Motion

Demo is a groundbreaking motion festival founded by Studio Dumbar/DEPT®. For 24 hours, digital screens, typically reserved for ads, are taken over by experimental, non-commercial motion design, transforming public space into a living gallery. The festival offers a collective visual breath: a moment of pause, reflection, and creative surprise in the everyday urban landscape.

My work has been selected for two editions, alongside pieces from a global lineup of renowned designers and studios.

Numbers (2022)
Selected for the 2022 edition, shown across more than 5,000 screens throughout the Netherlands. Numbers is built around a simple countdown. Each number emerges from a grid of precisely placed dots, disrupting the uniformity with a moment of controlled chaos. The countdown introduces tension as order breaks and then reforms, creating a rhythm that feels both mechanical and human.

Lines (2025)
Selected for the Cities Edition, which took the festival beyond the Netherlands for the first time, showing over 600 works across 15 cities in 7 countries, chosen from 5,400 submissions from 92 countries. The piece is built from nothing but repeated lines. Three forms turn against a flat blue field, each one described only by its edges—no surfaces, no shading, volume implied purely by how the lines gather and thin. They rotate, stretch and pass through each other, holding their shape one moment and dissolving into interference the next.
